Adolfo González Chaves Adolfo González Chaves
1881-1884

1828 - 1887. He was elected Senator of the Province for two periods. He was President of the Senate in 1881 and in 1884; he was First Vice President in his second period.

On April 2nd, 1886, the Railway Station Adolfo González Cháves was inaugurated, where a town was officially founded on lands donated by him. Soon that town grew into a city.

Matías L. Cardoso Matías L. Cardoso
1884-1887

He was born in the city of Buenos Aires in 1828 and died in 1894. He devoted his life to the military career, and fought in the battle of Caseros. He was appointed Magistrate in the city of Mercedes. He then recruited and equipped the troops to defend the national Executive Branch, when Bartolomé Mitre rose up against Nicolás Avellaneda.

In 1874, he was elected Provincial Representative, and 1880, he became a commanding officer in the Militia of Mercedes. When the revolution fostered by Carlos Tejedor finished, he was promoted to Colonel of the National Guard.

On finishing his period as a Representative, he became Provincial Senator until 1884. That year, he was candidate together with Carlos D’Amico, and was elected for the Provincial Executive Branch.
