Raúl Díaz

He was a member of the Partido Demócrata Nacional (Nacional Democratic Party)( the
former Conservative Party). Together with Federico Martínez de Hoz, he won the elections
to rule the Province of Buenos Aies; on May 1st ,1932 , he took on as Vice Governor
and President of the Senate.
In February, 1935, Martínez de Hoz was removed from his office due to dissidences
with his party;Raúl Díaz, thus, took over that position. Under his administration,
he passed the Election Law in which the universal secret and compulsory vote for
every individual over 18 years old was established. The regulation enforced stated
that councillor’s and mayor’s time in office was to be four years; he also agreed
to regulate bids for public work, and fostered the dispositions and regulation for
some administrative authorities.
In 1936, interested in public health, he made up a Council for Fighting against
Tuberculosis. Within the cultural arena, he fostered it by creating the Provincial
Committee of Culture, Library and Missions Records.
He also passed the creation of the Official Coat of Arms of the Province of Buenos
Aires.

Edgardo J. Miguez

He was member of the Partido Demócrata Nacional (Nacional Democratic Party (former
Conservative Party). He was elected Senator of this Province and First Vice President
of the Senate, in 1935 when the Governor Federico Martínez de Hoz was removed from
his office, and Raúl Díaz, who was the Vice Governor, took over the Governor Position.
Edgardo J. Miguez was then, President of the Senate of the Province (February 2nd,
1935- December 21st, 1935).
In 1942, his political party won and Edgardo J. Miguez was elected again Vice Governor
and President of the Senate (January 7th , 1942- April 6th , 1942).
In April, 1943, he was elected Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires. On June
4th, 1943, a coup d’etat led by General Pedro P. Ramírez interrupted his office.
